Ashtangaom: The Vision

We are embarking on a journey where we hope to create an existence where spirituality, community and the sacredness of our environment are unified. We understand we are involved in a process of conscious evolution and that there is no end to this journey.

We are creating a yoga centre primarily, which is an eco-centred space of relaxation, reflection and tolerance where guests can reconnect with themselves and others and experience the great healing power of nature and understand the absolute necessity of living in a sustainable, organic way so as to restore and take care of the environment that we are fast destroying.

We have a wide range of options catering for all types of people with and without families and all types of income brackets.

Through the creation of this yoga retreat we are finding a way to integrate our own dedicated yoga practice, family life and commitment to teaching in such a way that is sustainable, fulfilling both for us and our guests and financially viable.

We hope to be able to contribute to the growing Ashtanga Yoga network and create a practice space where the committed Ashtanga Community can also come together in a relaxed environment surrounded by beautiful nature and share time, experiences and practice in a community like atmosphere at a low cost.

El Convento is not a business venture per se and therefore we do not aspire to have luxury facilities or pamper our guests in a lavish and wasteful manner. We want people to be able to practice in a conducive environment, feel the luxury of being immersed nature and the elegance of living simply and organically.

We aim to create an atmosphere that is an extension of our family home and life where other like-minded people and families can come and rest, practice and live together for a while, and enjoy the wonderful rejuvenative quality and freshness that is El Convento.
